Emirates responds to claims of firing crew over viral BTS video
Dubai’s flagship carrier confirms no dismissals after investigating the behind-the-scenes footage.

DUBAI: Emirates Airline has denied dismissing cabin crew members over a viral behind-the-scenes (BTS) video that allegedly showcased policy violations.
In a statement to local media on Wednesday, an Emirates spokesperson confirmed the airline had investigated the matter but no crew were dismissed.
The video in question, titled 'Behind The Scenes as Emirates Cabin Crew — Things you DON’T see as a passenger', was uploaded to YouTube in May 2024 by a former Emirates flight attendant. Shot during a flight to Shanghai, the 30-minute video provided an inside look at cabin crew operations, including food preparation and access to restricted areas.
Several reports, citing anonymous sources and social media posts, had claimed that Emirates terminated employees featured in the video. However, the airline has now clarified that no such action was taken.
Despite the controversy, the video remains available on YouTube and has amassed over 1.3 million views. Other airlines’ BTS videos have also gone viral, attracting millions of views from aviation enthusiasts.
Meanwhile, Emirates continues to expand its workforce. According to its latest financial report, the airline’s total employee count grew by 10 percent in 2023-24, reaching 112,406 as it ramps up global recruitment to support its expanding operations.
